After 90+ years of ministry we have a very rich history touching thousands of lives, bringing christians together, helping form their faith and sending them out into the world.
We originally started as Camp Wah Shunga and later moved to our current site: Tomah Shinga. You might hear people call us LOMAK; that's us, too. It stands for Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Association of Kansas (yes, we know it's a mouthful).
It has been a great journey and we are excited to share our ever expanding story with you.
Every summer Tomah Shinga is filled with youth experiencing Christ in the Flint Hills through our week long residential ministry. Campers worship, play, do service and grow in their faith together as they explore how to take Christ into the world with them as they leave Tomah Shinga.
Tomah Shinga is more than just a summer camp ministry. We want to partner in ministry with you all year long. With your family. With your church. If you want to build up your faith community consider a day retreat, over night, or weekend retreat. You will have access to a lodge with full kitchen, four cabins that can house 50 comfortably, high and low ropes and miles of trails.
Consider yourself invited to be a part our ongoing ministry to youth, families and congregations. Our ministry is growing to include veterans, people with disabilities, service to people in urban areas and adventure based ministry. Call any time with questions, ideas or for a conversation about Camp Tomah Shinga and our ministry.
Stop by and we would be happy to give you a camp tour and talk about how we can serve you and your ministry needs!
As a growing ministry we are always looking at how we can improve. People just like you are getting involved to help us move into the future of Outdoor Ministry by helping us with...
- Physical Property Development
- New Programming
- Building Relationships
- Financial Giving
...and through their help we are moving forward into a brilliant tomorrow.
We love to dream about where the camp can go and we want you to dream with us.
