Opportunities to work and serve at
Camp Tomah Shinga
There are a variety of ways to be involved at Tomah Shinga through volunteering as well as sumer staff positions. If you would like to volunteer your time or talents or help us further our mission and ministry in some other way please contact us! We would love to have a conversation about how you, your family, your church or organization can have a great time while helping out!
This summer the youth that attend Camp Tomah Shinga will be exploring their faith, creating friendships and building confidence in who they are as a gifted young person. We look for summer staff that can communicate the gospel in a variety of ways including through bible studies, worship and the quality of relationships built with our campers.
Tomah Shinga is on 840 acres in the flint hills and includes Lyon Creek, hundreds of acres of oak and black walnut woods as well as high prairie grasslands. We have a high ropes/challenge course, swimming pool and miles of trails. If you have a passion for expressing your faith to youth and families, if you want to grow in your faith, if you want to help build a ministry that serves people from all walks of life Tomah Shinga is the place for you.
We are expanding our programs to serve military families, people with disabilities and underserved youth from rural and urban areas. If you have a desire to be a part of a growing ministry that seeks to serve those in need and have a particular area of interest please let us know. If you are hired as summer staff we will work with you to develop a program that allows you to work with those you feel called to serve.
We will be hiring counselors that will primarily be with campers, kitchen staff, maintenance, housekeeping, high ropes/challenge course instructors and lifeguards. Kitchen staff may be under the age of 18 but all other staff must be 18 with at least one year out of high school.
Counselor in Training Program
If you are at least sixteen years old you can apply to be a Counselor in Training. Just go to the staff application page and fill out all of the questions except those about college. A counselor in training does many of the same things a counselor does but also provides support in other places as needed. As a CIT you will spend time with the campers doing all of the usual camp activities and support the counselors in their ministry. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
